Wet Paper Stamping and SAB

Wow!  Two posts at once!

This was my last workshop on the SAB sets where we focused on the Wet Paper stamping technique, the Colour Coach and the Distressing Essentials (which are fantastic!  And not at all scary once you've used them!)

I demonstrated how to use lighter colour ink on Watercolour paper and then make it 'bleed' into the super heavyweight textured beautiful paper by giving it a spritz of water.  I prepared a couple before the workshop and left them to dry.  I then stamped the same image over the top in a darker contrasting colour, which was helpfully suggested by my amazing colour coach...

(little aside, the Colour Coach can also be used for clothes buying and house decorating as well as being amazing for mixing up your cardstock and making amazing colour suggestions.  Better than any paint colour cards or colour-coordination phone apps that you can buy!)

...I then used Soft Suede to add a watercolour effect to the background cardstock (can also use VersaMark), I added the little butterfly with some Stampin' Dimensionals, a bit of bling with the basic rhinestones (beautiful), some linen thread around the bottom and a slice of texture with my ripped edges and textured cardstock (Recipe at the bottom)

Soft Suede, So Saffron and Regal Rose.

And another colourway using my Colour Coach. Soft Suede, Baja Breeze and Cherry Cobbler.

Make and Takes:

On the night I actually had 14 attendees who very patiently took turns in getting parts of the Distressing Essentials at a time and made the following card.

Firstly, we used Old Olive cardstock for the base and rolled over it with Early Espresso ink and the Texture Wheel.

We then stamped the background flourish in the Blue ink spot from the Essentials.

We used Very Vanilla cardstock and used the Stamping Off technique with the Teabag Stain inkspot to stamp a flower and then stamp off a fainter image onto the same card.

We used Charcoal inkspot for the Bliss greeting and the Mahogany inkspot for the butterfly.

We ripped the Very Vanilla along each edge and scrunched it up a little (some were braver than others, it takes practise learning to crumple your lovely card!)  We brushed the edges using the plain stamp in the Distressing Essentials and gently across the front too.

We added a Neutrals button with linen thread and a glue dot (or a Basic Rhinestone) and double raised the butterfly with two Stampin' Dimensionals, one stuck on top of the other.

Lastly, we stuck the Very Vanilla using sticky strip and some of us gracefully landed a butterfly on the front of our envelopes too!

With fourteen attendees and only one Distressing Essentials kit and Texture wheel we about three chains going but everyone got to use everything in the kit and got to watch the people about doing theirs too, which was really great!!

Looking forward to the next workshop which I'm hosting at the beginning of Feb (date and time to be confirmed!)  Let me know if you would like to attend or host your own workshop with these great techniques.
